Handmade Cards

The bonus about purchasing them from a craft store is that they will have different sizes and styles. One type that I have come across that is very neat is the photo insert card. If you have a tough time coming up with something on the outside, this allows you to insert a picture. Pull out old memory and let the picture do all the talking.

Purchasing Cards

You can usually purchase blank cards from different craft stores to help get you started. I normally purchase mine from Michael's and use a coupon for 40% from their flyer.

The beauty of homemade cards is that they aren't hard to make and if you are a collector of craft materials like me, you'll finally have a use for them. You can also use recycled material as well as watercolor paint depending on the card paper you are using. This will help make each card unique for your loved ones.

Design block? If you ever have trouble coming up with ideas for your cards you can use Google or Pinterest to gather ideas. Pinterest is a great space because you can save ideas for later as well.

Tip: When you are using markers make sure you use thick enough paper so that it doesn't bleed through to the other side. Another tip is to make sure that whatever you end up doing, give it enough time to draw before opening the card and writing your message.

The message doesn't have to be long. Like the rest of the card, it can be whatever you want. You are the designer and are able to cater to each card to the individual you are making it for. That's what makes them so unique and thoughtful. l.

Writing the Message Inside

I like to write my message out in pencil before going over it in marker. Everyone makes mistakes so this is one way that I proof read my work.
